Howard Edward STOOTS

STOOTS, Howard Edward "Eddie" - Age 63, of Fenton, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Pastor Dan Rose, Pastor Gary Cech and Pastor Dwight Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the family. Howard was born August 15, 1947 in Yukon, WV, the son of Robert Herman and Mildred Juanita (Moore) Stoots. He grew up in Coalwood, WV and graduated from Big Creek High School in War, WV. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, where he received many decorations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Two Bronze Stars. He ended his military service at Ft. Benning, GA as an MP. After his time in the Army, he returned home and worked in the coal mining industry for US Steel Corporation. He was married to Rebecca J. Ellis on August 1, 1971. They moved to Michigan in 1978 and he worked for General Motors/Buick Motor Division. Mr. Stoots also owned and operated Arcade Florist in Flint. He and Becky managed Genesee Gardens Retirement Community in Flint; Howard later went in to the insurance business. Howard loved Nascar, Michigan Football and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are: wife Becky (Ellis) Stoots; daughter, Heather and husband Scott Hicks; son, Scott Stoots; grandchildren, Christian, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Tyler Hicks, Racheal and Ashley Stoots; aunts, Dottie and husband Roger Wagner, Eva Packer.
