NELSON, Howard M. - Age 87, of Flint, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday, February 17, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Rev. Grant Wessel officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of choice. Mr. Nelson was born October 13, 1918 in the Thumb area of Michigan. He had been a resident of the Flint area for many years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Helen M. Bennett on January 21, 1950 in Angola, IN; she preceded him in death April 24, 1994. Mr. Nelson retired from Buick Drop Forge with many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was a member of the Parkland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Nelson was a baseball coach for the American Legion teams, primarily the Buick Colts. He was inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame as a basketball coach for the James Lumber team. Surviving are: daughter, Yvonne Csintyan of Davison; son-in-law, Gary K. Sanborn and wife Debra of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Lori Csintyan, Michael Csintyan and wife Jennifer, Scott Sanborn, Stephanie and husband Michael Donnay; great grandson, Trevor Csintyan; sister, Geraldine Farver; and friend, Lorraine Chisholm. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Linda Sanborn; and son-in-law, Ronald Csintyan. Friends may share condolences or post a tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
