Howard Morris Horton

HORTON, Howard Morris - age 84 of Fenton, passed away August 8, 2024. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. A Masonic memorial service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Linden. Howard was born August 8, 1940, in Lutts, TN, the son of William Howard and Essie Marie (Morris) Horton. Howard was a graduate of Linden High School and a member of the 1958 State Championship Football team. He married his high school sweetheart Judy (Dunning) Horton. Howard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die Supervisor after 42 years. Howard loved cars, and took his 2003 Anniversary Corvette to many car shows in the area. He was also a member of the Corvette Museum. Howard loved reading history books, watching old cowboy movies and listening to old time country music. Surviving are: wife of 62 years, Judith (Dunning) Horton; two children, Christina Marie (Horton) Bowles and husband Dennis Bowles and Curtis Howard Horton; three grandchildren, Victoria Bowles and fiancé, Benjamin Schmachtenberger, Emily Horton and fiancé, Jack Welsh, and Matthew Horton; brother, Bradley Lewis Horton; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard and Essie Marie Horton, sister, Charlee Ann Hansard, and infant brother, Lawrence Boyce Horton.
