Howard Nelson Gibson

Howard Nelson Gibson - age 93 of Fenton, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Howard was born on June 29, 1930, the youngest of five children, in Milford. He was a 1948 graduate of Milford High School. He married Donna Jean Morgan on June 5, 1954. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2013. Howard was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church. Howard retired in 1987 from the GM Proving Grounds as the mail carrier and then went on to work at VG’s as a bagger and greeter for several years. Talking to people was the highlight of every day. Howard and Donna belonged to the Silver Spurs square dance group, and he continued to meet remaining members for brunch once a month. He belonged to a monthly euchre club where he seldom lost. He went once a week to watch his great-granddaughter at gymnastics class. He went out for dinner with the “Leftovers”, the men’s church group, once a month. All of these activities he enjoyed up until October of this year. Howard is survived by his daughters, Candi Gibson-Rogers of Fenton, Melani Johnson of Pensacola, Fl and Holli (Dan) Poyner of Fenton. Grandchildren, Daniel (Lara) Poyner, Cameron (Heather) Poyner, Nick Johnson, Haley Johnson (Adam Penley); great-grandchildren, Zachary Johnson, Samantha and Adam Poyner, baby Haislee Lynn due in February; several nieces, nephews and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; grandson, Zachery Robert Johnson, his parents and four siblings. Howard was the final survivor of our pioneering family. Visitation will be Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:30 to 12 Noon with a memorial service at 12 Noon at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton.
