Hilda was born in Senath, Missouri on November 15, 1932 the daughter of Rayford M. Pollard and Effie Agnes Smithwick Pollard. Hilda married the love of her life, John Robert (Bob) Hamilton June 20, 1953. They spent their early years in the South and in 1954 they moved to Flint Michigan. After raising their daughters in Michigan and upon retirement they moved back to the South in 1990 to take care of their parents. In 2017 they returned to Flint to be close to their children. Hilda loved and lived life enthusiastically. She enjoyed volunteering in public service. She was a gifted soloist and in her younger years was invited to sing often live for a Christian radio station. She enjoyed flowers and her flower garden was admired and desired by all. She enjoyed fishing as well as playing her Ukulele. Hilda was primarily a homemaker; she loved her husband and her three daughters, Robbie, Debbie and Ginny. But her greatest joy came in serving the Lord. Throughout her life she served in her church teaching children, teenagers and adults. She also held leadership positions within the local church and at the State denominational level. She was an inspirational role model and example to many. While physical restraints, in her later years, kept her from actively participating she continued to serve others with her kind, encouraging words, positive attitude and happy smile. Hilda is survived by her husband, John R. Hamilton; children Robbie (Keith) Lawrence, Debbie (Reverend Kevin Knox), Ginny (Pastor Steven) Martin; four grandchildren, Robert Coon, Jeremy Martin, Jillian Crews, and Jenny Lynn Martin; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Colonel Robert "Bob" Pollard and Peggy Rose.
