Herman Lonvee SPILLERS

February 10, 1928 — August 5, 2011

SPILLERS, Herman Lonvee - age 83, of Linden, died Friday, August 5, 2011 at his residence. Services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Pamela Kail and Pastor Clifford Furness co-officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where a Masonic memorial will be held at 7 PM Tuesday. Visitation will also be held from 11 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church or Shriners Children's Hospital. Mr. Spillers was born February 10, 1928 in Burton Twp, the son of Forest and Hazel (Grosephend) Spillers of Gladwin. He married Laura Marie Young on July 17, 1953 in Gladwin. Mr. Spillers was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from General Motors-Chevy Manufacturing in 1988 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. Mr. Spillers was a member for over 30 years of Fenton Lodge # 109 F & AM and served as Worshipful Master from 1978-1980. He was also a 37 year member of the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Club of Fenton and served as President for two years and was a 32nd Degree Mason and Life Member of the Scottish Rite Bay City Consistory. He was also a zone coordinator for transportation and driver for the Shriners Children's Hospital for 20 years. Surviving are: wife, Laura Marie; five children, Deri (Linda) Spillers of Leonard, MI, Rod (Kim) Spillers of Canton, Jan (Larry) Hulverson of Millington, Dale Spillers of Fenton, Doug (Sherri) Spillers of Alborn, MN; eight grandchildren, Amy, Claire, Melissa, MaryLynn, Travis, Drew, Christian, and Josephine; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Betty) Spillers of Gladwin, Gilbert (Judy) Spillers of Durand; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey Spillers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Patel, Dr. Danish, Avalon Hospice, especially nurse Heidi and to all friends and family for their support and prayers.
