Herbert Frederick Thrun

THRUN, Herbert Frederick - age 77, of Holly, died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Crestmont Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, May 4, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Rd., Grand Blanc with Pastor Wayne H. Wentzel officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 9 AM until the time of service Friday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Faith Lutheran Church or the Parkinson's Foundation. Mr. Thrun was born January 19, 1930 in Toledo, OH, the son of Herbert Frederick and Arvilla Augusta (Tabbert) Thrun, Sr. He married Beverly Louise Cronkhite on January 25, 1953 in Battle Creek. Mr. Thrun was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a 1958 graduate of Michigan State University and retired from General Motors in 1985 as a Senior Engineer. Mr. Thrun was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church and Bethany Lutheran Church in Leesburg, FL. He was a volunteer for 7 years for Genesys Health Spiritual Care. Surviving are: wife, Beverly Louise; three daughters, Victoria and husband, Glendon VanGorder of Northville, Deborra and husband, Larry Warren of Aurora, CO, Sue and husband, Wayne Pontin of Holly; three grandchildren, Stefanie, Geoffrey, Sara and a baby due in July; brother, Charles Thrun of Port Townsend, WA.
