GELLINGS, Henry B. - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, December 11, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Fr. Steven Mattson celebrant. Burial immediately following in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel Saturday from 6-9 PM and Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. A vigil service will be held 3:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Area Food Pantry or Fragile X Syndrome. Henry was born December 29, 1917 in Germany, the son of Peter and Helene (Velling) Gellings. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Betty T. Pendergraph April 15, 1944 in Durham, North Carolina. Henry had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 63 years. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone after 43 years of service. He enjoyed yardwork, traveling, doing repairs for neighbors and friends. Henry also enjoyed telling and hearing good jokes. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Surviving are: wife, Betty; 5 children, Joseph Gellings of Swartz Creek, Michael Gellings of Swartz Creek, Pat Phillips of Swartz Creek, Susan and husband Levon Hachigian of Plymouth and Martha Harris of Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Gellings; daughter-in-law, Maureen Gellings; son-in-law, Bob Phillips.
