SORDYL, Henrietta Wanda -- Age 98, of Flushing, died May 19, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday, May 23rd at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint. Fr. Phil Schmitter celebrant. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 7PM. Visitation will also be from 10AM until time of Mass at the church on Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney Catholic School or Powers Catholic High School.

Oldest of 13 children, Henrietta was born August 4, 1923 in Flint, the daughter of Valentine P. and Hattie H. (Suchon) Glomson. She married Henry Sordyl on October 18, 1947. Together they raised eight children and enjoyed being active in several organizations. As a legal secretary, Henrietta worked at Fidelity Abstract and Title Company for 60+ years. She owned Flint Secretarial Service and was the Hall Coordinator for Dom Polski for many years. As a Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she belonged to the Altar Society, Rosary Guild, and School Board. After the closing of Sacred Heart, St John Vianney became her parish where she served on its school board. Her Polish heritage played an important part of her life. She became the 1st woman president at Dom Polski of Flint (10 years), was active in the Cultural Center and coordinated Pierogi making for many years. She was a lifetime member of Polish Legion of American Veterans Auxiliary and Financial Secretary of Polish National Alliance, Grupa 1186. Ladies Auxiliary-Knights of Columbus Chorus and Michigan Association of Legal Secretaries were just a couple of the many organizations she participated in.

Surviving are: children, Cynthia (Lewis) Clingman, Denise Sordyl, Christine Montgomery, Charlene Sanborn (Lee Finkel), Matthew Sordyl, Rose (Douglas) Huber, Anthony Sordyl, daughter-in-law, Paula (Daniel) Kruszka; grandchildren, Joel (Melinda) Sordyl, Kimberly Vollmer (Steve Henry), Emily Clingman, Luanne (David) Gerrity, Marirose Clingman, Daniel (Lisa Callaghan) Clingman, Brendan (Lauren) Montgomery, Rachel (Daniel) Meade, Nicole (Jacob) Carter, Natalie Sanborn, Olivia (Michael) Garontakos, Zachary Huber (Ashley Lang), Jacob Huber, Sophia Huber, Technical Sergeant USAF Patrick (Kacie) Sordyl, Mary Sordyl; twenty four great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; one great-great grandchild; five siblings, Donna Vowell, Frederick (Shirley) Glomson, Marjorie Kravitz, Chester (Nancy) Glomson, Judy (James) Gordon; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Sordyl; son, Valentine Sordyl; and siblings, Beatrice Bobbitt, Dolores Drake, David Glomson, Patricia Cornack, Loretta Rowland, Peter Glomson, and Daniel Glomson.
