Helene Sloan

SLOAN, Helene Ann - Age 84, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines.  Fr. Bill Wegher celebrant.  Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Davison.  Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Helene was born August 9, 1937 in Beecher, the daughter of Donald Jay and Helen Marie (Thompson) Frise.  She was a 1955 graduate of Flint Beecher High School; she also received her Nursing Degree from St. Joseph Nursing School in Flint.  She married Donald Eugene Sloan December 23, 1970 in Flint.  Helene had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 51 years.  She had owned and operated Helene's Ceramics for over 10 years; she then was an sales associate for JoAnn's Fabrics.  She was a puzzle pro.

Surviving are: her husband, Donald; children, Donna Cooney of Lansing and Lance (Lilian) Sloan of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Nora Sloan, Seamus Sloan, April (Cooney) Patelski, and Jessica Cooney; 7 great grandchildren, Uncle William W. Frise.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Rick and Randall Sloan; parents; brothers, Jimmy and Robert Frise.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
