SURFACE, Helen Virginia -- Age 77, of Swartz Creek, died January 6, 2012 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday, January 9 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Glenn Tatterson officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Helen was born August 10, 1934 in Arab, Alabama, the daughter of Louis and and Lillie (McWhorter) Widner. She had resided in Swartz Creek since 1971. She was married to Robert Surface on June 1, 1957; he preceded her in death August 2, 2010. She retired from GM in 1991. She was a member of the Flint Baptist Temple. Surviving are: son Tab and wife Paula Surface of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Cody, Cade, and Camry Surface, Asa and Helen Brown; sister, Ruth Smith of Gadsden, AL.
