Helen Ardis STONE

STONE, Helen Ardis, age 88, of Grand Blanc, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Fenton Extended Care. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, 515 Bush Ave. Grand Blanc. Pastor Roger L. Colby officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. and 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Fenton Extended Care. Ardis was born April 7, 1922 in Lansing, the daughter of the late James E. and Francis (Magley) Bishop. She married Stanley Roy Stone on July 4, 1942 and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2008. Ardis was a foster mother and then day care for more than 30 years, caring for more than 110 infants and children. She enjoyed being active and varied her interests to doll making, crafting with her husband Roy and accompaning Roy to the Harmonica Performances. She was an active volunteer for Hurley Auxillary "Rocking Grannies" and made hundreds of hats, mittens, and booties for the Hurley Neo-natal Unit. Ardis, along with Roy, was a life member of Flint Rock and Gem Club. Surviving are daughter, Merry and husband Ken St. John of Jackson; son, James and wife Kathy Stone of Gaines; son-in-law, John Bell of Grand Blanc; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister, Dawn Moore of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Priscilla Dawn Stone-Bell, sister, Lucille Sherman, and brother William Bishop. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you for the wounderful care given by her "favorite caregivers" at Fenton Extended Care.
