Helen Mae REID

REID, Helen Mae, age 90, of Flint, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 2:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Whaley Children's Center. Helen was born December 29, 1920 in Gratiot County, Michigan the daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Barnhill) Erickson. She was married to Homer "Bob" Reid who preceded her in death on October 21, 1991. When Helen was young, she had been employed as a secretary by Bristol United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Hope United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Club and taught Adult Sunday School as well. Helen loved to play games, but hated to lose. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be missed dearly. Surviving are her 4 children, Kathleen Marme (Curt), Diana Shumaker, John Reid (Mary), Pamela Harris (Dan); 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Louis Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her son, Sam Reid; and 10 brothers and sisters. The family extends special thanks to caregivers, Lisa Bush and Dawn Burns for their tender and professional care.
