Helen Porteous

PORTEOUS, Helen Dorty -- Age 95, of Flint, died Wednesday August 17, 2016. Services will be held 2 PM Monday, August 22 at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4142 Flushing Rd., Flint. Those desiring may make contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinsons.com.). Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek. Helen was born February 6, 1921 in Flint the daughter of William and Agnes (Zawol) Oleksyn. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1939. She married Robert Porteous January 30, 1944; he preceded her in death in 1979. She owned and operated the West Side Drive Inn and the Dort Party Shoppe. She was part owner of the Dort Mall. She is survived by her children, Christine (Mike) Clary, Laura Porteous, Teresa Porteous, Robert (Angela) Porteous, Russell (Angela) Porteous; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
