NIEMI, Helen Elizabeth - Age 91, of Ormond Beach, FL. formerly of Flint, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Jeffrey P. Walsh, Pastor. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flint. Helen was born March 17, 1925 in Greeley, CO, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Simmons) Brinkman. She was a 1944 graduate of Saginaw High School. She married Irving Mathew Niemi August 21, 1948 in Saginaw. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the Women's Guild. Helen enjoyed golfing, sewing, and bowling. Surviving are: 4 children, Richard (Tina) Niemi of Marshall, Cathy (William) Groat of Ormond Beach, FL, Carol (Robert) Long of Ormond Beach, FL, and Linda (Dennis) Walsh of Gaylord; grandchildren, Matthew (Tami) Niemi, Holly Niemi (Matt) , Catherine (Michael) Gandy, Laura (Dan) Knowlton, Sarah Groat, Jen (Colin) Craig, and Julie (Kyle) O'Connor; great grandchildren, Kurtis, Tyler, Corryn, Violet and Claire.
