Helen Killian

KILLIAN, Helen Abdella DeLaVergne -- of Fenton, age 91, died Saturday, September 5, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015, at United Methodist Church located at 119 South Leroy Street in Fenton, Michigan. The family will receive friends and family from 12:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m., and the memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. A celebration luncheon will follow at 2:00 p.m. Helen was born in Bay City, Michigan on January 8, 1924, to Michael and May (Toby) Abdella. She was the only daughter of six children. Her brothers Fred, Dave, Jack, and John proceeded Helen in death and she is survived by her brother Tom Abdella. Helen married Joseph DeLaVergne on April 20 1948, and grew a loving family with 5 children. After Joe's death in 1964, Helen raised her 5 children alone until marrying Don Killian in 1971. Don passed away in 1977. Helen's priority throughout her life was to love and support her family. Her greatest joy was sharing her home cooked meals and gathering with family and friends. Helen nurtured a sense of adventure, independence, and loyalty. She taught her children how to enjoy life and each other. Everyone will miss her laughter, love and strength. She is survived by her loving children: Gerald (Karen) DeLaVergne, Cheryl (John) Jarding, Ann (Lisa Chase) DeLaVergne, Cindy (Tom) McColley, Joel (Lisa) DeLaVergne. Her cherished grandchildren - Kelly (Shawn) Luke (Erica), Mark (Tasha), Darcy, Joe (Jody), Mike (Angela), Brian (Jenny), Heather (Matthew), Joseph, Katie, Keegan, Maddi; her beautiful great grandchildren: Tyler, Tori, Tanya, Olive, Maze, Soren, Elijah, Jase, Jaelee, Sydney, and Sage.
