Helen Jean Karas

KARAS, Helen Jean - age 86, formerly of Grand Blanc, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 4, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp with Rev. Dean Dumbrille officiating. Visitation will be held 2-5 and 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Grand Blanc Fund of the Greater Flint Community Foundation. Helen was born May 1, 1921 in Caro, MI, the daughter of James and Molly (Durban) Price. She graduated from Bendle High School in 1939. Helen married George Karas on September 7, 1939. Over the years, she and her husband owned and operated George's Grand Bar, Karasel Restaurant and Lounge and Karas Industrial Sales. She is survived by: two sons, Dennis C. Karas and wife, Claudia, George Henry Karas and wife, Xiu Dan; several grandchildren, Helen, Michelle, Robert, Ben, Stephen, Maria and James; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Karas; nephews, Bill, Bruce and Arnold; niece, Dawn. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 67 years, George on September 5, 2006; son, James; brothers, Virgil and Lionel.
