HODGES, Helen L. - Age 84, of Fenton and Bradenton, FL, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Genesys Health Park. Memorial Service will be held 11AM Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Family will receive friends 1-3 and 6-8PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fenton Extended Care. Mrs. Hodges was born November 3, 1921 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of K.C. and Lena (Becker) Wortman. She graduated from Flint Central and went on to Flint Junior College where she enjoyed playing college basketball. She then graduated from Central Michigan University and went on to teach in the Flint School System for 20 years. Helen married her devoted husband, Don Hodges in 1946 and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Helen was a member of Lake Fenton Methodist Church and enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing. She also loved tending to her roses at her residence in Bradenton, FL. One of Helen's favorite hobbies was making lap robes for convalescent homes. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family in and around the Tawas area where they water skied and sailed. Surviving are her husband, Don; 3 children, Rick and wife Brenda Hodges of Fenton, Barb and husband Russ Scaffede of Holland, Tim and wife Kelly Hodges of Zeeland; 6 grandchildren, Mary and husband Tim Clark, Russ and wife Jenny Scaffede, Ryan Hodges, Jason Hodges, Kelly Hodges and Taylor Hodges; 2 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Timothy Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald Wortman and sister-in-law, Marie Wortman
