Heidi Marie Travis

TRAVIS, Heidi Marie, age 64 formerly of Swartz Creek passed away on September 10, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 4, 2023 at  Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Following the service, interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gaines. The family will receive friends from 12 PM to 1 PM on Saturday, November 4 at the funeral home.

Born on February 18, 1959, Heidi was the daughter of Robert and Hannelore (Schultz) Retka Sr. With a strong passion for sewing and craftsmanship, she became a master seamstress and achieved her lifelong dream of owning and operating her own business called "The RipOff," an upholstery shop in Marathon Key on Hwy 1 for several years.

Heidi was a bright individual who brought laughter and excitement into every room. Known for her caring nature and dedication to her work, she tirelessly overcame life's challenges with her self-powered determination. She was also an exceptional cook who could light up any gathering as the fun-loving life of the party.

Heidi had a deep love for the ocean, sailing, and the Bahamas. However, her greatest love was reserved for her son Thomas Travis and her mother Hannelore Retka; they meant everything to her.

Surviving Heidi are her beloved son Thomas Travis; devoted mother Hannelore Retka; caring brother Thomas Retka; and loving sister Lori Goldsmith. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Retka Sr., and three brothers: Robert Retka Jr., Christopher Retka, and Michal Retka.
