Harry Joseph Scheib
Peacefully passed away, March 16th, 2024, at age 96, in his home with family by his side. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 14th, 1927, to Clarence Scheib and Ethel (Revard) Scheib, both now deceased.
Harry resided most of his early life in Pontiac, Michigan and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Naval Service from July of 1945 to July of 1946. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Allen Park, Michigan for many years and retired in 1982.
He met and married his wife, of 63 years, Lois Jean Murchie, of Rapid River, Michigan, on January 10, 1959. She preceded him in death in November 2022. Harry and Lois together had six children: Ann Scheib, Mike Scheib, Nancy (Tom) Mack, Trish (Dave) Farley, Jenny Scheib (deceased in 2018), and Joe Scheib. He was grandpa to: Joshua (Sasha), Sarah, Kevin, Erica, Robert, Chelsea, Ethan, and Alden. Great grandpa (Papa) to Clara and Jaxson.
In 1968, Harry purchased a farm in Deerfield Township, Michigan, and moved the family there from Livonia. It was his home until 2022 when he moved in with his daughter Trish, Dave, and Pearl until the time of his death.
After retiring, Harry spent his free time on many projects including working at St. Augustine Catholic Church where he was member from 1968 to present and the Deerfield Township Hall. But his all-time favorite thing to do was gardening. Harry was so proud of his massive garden and huge, sweet corn patch, and loved sharing it with others.
He was preceded in death by many family members, friends, and his dog Pearl. Loved by all including nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and especially Pat and Bethany. Harry was a one-of-a-kind, generous, and loving man and will be truly missed. A special thank you to Residential Hospice of Troy, especially nurse Samantha. Also, to Shannon Scherba of St. Augustine Catholic Church for all she did for Harry.
