Harriett Ellen Ensinger

HARRIETT ELLEN ENSINGER, Born Sept. 14, 1919; Died on Nov. 25, 2006. Harriett Ellen Ensinger, only child of Florence Mosher and Cyrus Dunham, died in her sleep on Saturday, November 25, 2006. She was a life long resident of Flint, MI having most recently resided at Kith Haven. Harriett graduated from Flint Central High School in 1938 and went on to get a Bachelors Degree in Education from North Central College in 1942 at Naperville, IL. Her career as an educator was spent teaching at Coolidge Community School where she retired in 1966. In August 1965, Harriett married Harold J. Ensinger, also a teacher. They were both active members of Court St. United Methodist Church where her parents had married in 1916. Both Harriett and Harold sang in the choir. Harriett was active in a sewing club and lovingly supported many orphaned children living overseas. She was very fond of animals - especially her pet cats. Everyone she knew appreciated her quick and ready wit and gentle humor.  Harriett is survived by her step son, George W. Ensinger of New York, NY, his wife, Ann, and their two sons, Jordan and Aaron. She is also survived by her step daughter, Jean Ann Leever of Silver Spring, MD and her sons and daughters: Paul and Carmina Adams, George and Christine Trageser, Steven and Ellen Leever, David and Sharon Leever and eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Services will be held at Court Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Court St. UMC Associate Pastor, Dr. Margie Crawford and Rev. Paul Wolf from Junction City, KS, former member of Court St. UMC. He and his wife, Peckham Wolf, were close, personal friends of Harriett and the Ensinger family. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery , Grand Blanc Township.
