Harold "Nick" Eugene Nicholson, age 82, of Swartz Creek, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, leaving behind Marilynn, his loving wife of 27 years, lover, friend and biggest source of frustration. Also left to cherish in his memory are his children Lance Nicholson, Jaime (Ted) Rogers, Daniel (Jessica) Korn, Kelli (Tim) Bailey, and Krystle Ontiveros. His biggest sources of joy were his grandchildren, Shian (Tyler) Yada, John David Leis, Nolan Carter, Taylor (Brandon) Maples, Hayden Bailey, Brady Korn, Kenzie Korn, Sarah VanDyke, Kristopher VanDyke, special friends, Jan Wright, Charlie Brunette, Linda Heiney; and a host of friends from the Swartz Creek AmVets. He was preceded in death by his father, Lindsey, mother, Exora; son, Robert, and granddaughter, Angel Rogers.
Nick was forever a union man and believed that the union was the salvation of the working man and woman. He served the membership of the U.A.W. Local 651 for over 30 years in elected and appointed positions until his retirement in 1994. Nick held every bargainer's position in his local union from alternate committee rep. to chairman of the shop committee. Nick was a Veteran of the United States Army and past Post Commander of the AmVets Post #3720 and member of the Honor Guard. Nick was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He spent many happy years fishing Lake Huron at Harbor Beach.
A celebration of life will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the American Legion Post #294, 3440 Morrish Rd, Swartz Creek, MI. Interment with Military Honors will take place 2:00 PM, Monday, September 9, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek AmVets Post #3720 Honor Guard. Arrangements were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Tribute may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
