Harold Bert "Bud" Baird

BAIRD, Harold Bert, "Bud" age 80, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 1PM Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be Thursday 7-9 and Friday 2-9PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be served under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243 at the cemetery. Harold was born August 17, 1927 in Flint the son of Harold Rubin and Bina (VanNorick) Baird. Harold married Violet R. Thornton in Fenton on May 22, 1948. He attended Goodrich High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Harold was employed by the City of Fenton for 30 years  as foreman of the DPW and for several years was crossing guard for the Fenton Police Department. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Violet; 6 children, Leslie (Deanna) Baird, Ruth Ann Baird, Roy (Susan) Baird, Jeffrey (Melodie) Baird, Laura (Doug) Hecox, James (Lynn) Baird; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Jim) Sura; son-in-law, John Whaley; many nieces and nephews  and his 2 loyal canine companions, Vinnie and Piper. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Whaley on July 11, 2007; 3 sisters, Patricia, Wanda, Barb; and brother, Jerry.
