Born in Flint, Michigan on February 15, 1942, Harley was a man who lived life with passion and warmth, always ready with a smile or a quick-witted remark that could brighten anyone's day. Harley spent over four decades as a dedicated metal fabricator, a career that showcased his skill and commitment. He also served his country with pride as a member of the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his strong character. But it was at Torch Lake, surrounded by family, where Harley found true joy. Whether he was fishing, bowling, playing pool, or simply relaxing by the water, his love for life was evident in every moment. He was a lover of music and enjoyed roller skating, always bringing his unique energy and spirit to everything he did. Harley’s magnetic personality, coupled with his honesty and dependability, made him a beloved figure among family and friends. He was a man of deep loyalty, always there to lend a helping hand or share in a hearty laugh. His love for his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with those he held dear.
Harley was preceded in death by his father: Jack B. Powers, his mother: Barbara L. Bozell; and his daughter-in-law: Margaret Helen Powers. Though he is no longer with us, Harley’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia Mary Powers; his beloved daughters, Michelle (Kenneth) Merrow and Sherry (Brian) Woodward; his son, Jack Matthew Powers; and his treasured grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Christian, Parker, Preston, Paige, Patricia, Jack Jr., and Joe. He was a proud great-grandfather to Theodore and Sophia. Harley's legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
