MOODY, Harland, George -- Went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2022. Services will be held 1PM Tuesday March 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Monica M. Villarreal officiating. Visitation will be 11AM until time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday March 29. Those desiring may make contributions to Salem Lutheran Church. Born June 22, 1934 in Flint, Michigan, to George and Margaret (Heifort) Moody, formerly of Stillwater, Minnesota. He was their only child. Harland graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1952, served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959 proudly serving in Okinawa, Japan, as a Seabee and teaching English to Japanese schoolchildren. He became fluent in Japanese in return, which he enjoyed speaking for the remainder of his life. He worked for Fisher Body in Grand Blanc for 41 years from 1952 to 1993. Harland married Frances Schuman in 1960 and they shared a blessed life together for almost 62 years. They shared five children: Ronald, Stephen, Jeffery, Jamie and Jeannie. He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Flint, a member of the Moose Lodge in Fenton, and a true blue Michigan fan. Over the years, Harland enjoyed many activities, including hockey, golf, bowling, and tennis. His favorite pastime was meeting new people and socializing. Known for his infectious smile and laugh, he loved life, and always welcomed a friendly conversation. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Moody, and sons, Jeffery, Jamie and Stephen. He leaves behind many who loved him: wife, Frances Moody, daughter Jeannie (Thomas) Moody-Novak of Canton, Michigan, son, Ronald (Elsa) Schuman of Arlington, Texas, daughter-in-law, Ruth Moody of Swartz Creek, nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
