PINKSTON, Harley "Blaine" - age 87, lifelong resident of the Swartz Creek area, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Services will be held 2 PM Monday, May 18, 2009 at The Church of Christ of Grand Blanc, 4028 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc with Minister Allen Barber officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Saturday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Visitation will also be held 12:30 PM until the time of service Monday at the church. Interment at Bryant Cemetery, Lewisburg, TN. Mr. Pinkston was born November 17, 1921 in Mundy Twp., Swartz Creek, the son of Harley E. and Lulu E. (Butler) Pinkston. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1940 and held the "880" half mile track record for over 26 years. After High School Blaine attended Agricultural short course at MSU. He married Jeannette Bowden of Lewisburg, TN on September 30, 1952 in Carinth, MS. Blaine lived his entire life at the family farm and was active in many farm organizations including, Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation District, MMPA and was the top milk producer in Genesee County for a few years. He was a member of The Church of Christ of Grand Blanc for over 50 years. His hobbies were photography and carving. Surviving are: wife, Jeannette Pinkston; sons, Garth (Sharon) Pinkston of Columbia, TN, Collin of Swartz Creek; daughter, Melanie of Clio; grandchildren, Grant (Miriam) Pinkston of Ft. Campbell, KY, Gavin Pinkston (fiancee, Lauren)of TN, Grace Pinkston of Henderson, TN; great-grandsons, Jonah and Abner Pinkston; brother, Roland Pinkston of Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jewel Clabuesch, Wilma Gall and Virginia Baker.
