TAKACS, Gyula Kalman - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020. A memorial service will be announced for a later date by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Gyula was born on February 23, 1935 in Tiszanagyfalu, Hungary, the son of Mihaly and Erzsebet (Hircsu) Takacs. Gyula was an educator in Hungary until the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, during the revolution his family moved to the United States where he began working for the General Motors Flint Metal Fab as a Tinsmith for 42 years before he retired in 2002. Gyula and Renata were united in marriage in 1967. He was a member of the Hungarian - Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Burton. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, helping others, and being an avid sports fan. He is survived by his 4 children, Eva Stone, Erzsebet "Liz" Takacs, Mike (Krista) Takacs and Gyula (Krista) Takacs; 10 grandchildren, Desiree (Luke) Prill, Ashleigh Stone, Mathias Takacs, Elliana Takacs, Allison Takacs, Scarlett Takacs, Ethan Takacs, Gavin Takacs, Sophia Takacs, Violet Takacs; 4 great-grandchildren, Preston, Henry, Adeline and Emily. Gyula was preceded in death by his wife, Renata; parents, Mihaly and Erzsebet Takacs; siblings, Miklos, Ilonka and Ferenc; and special cousin, Eva Copeland.
