Gwendolyn "Gwen" Bessolo

Gwendolyn "Gwen E. Bessolo, age 94, resident of Byron, passed away with family at her side on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, starting at 4PM -8PM at SHARP FUNERAL HOME, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Visitation will resume Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11AM at Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek. Gwen was born on May 17, 1928, in Flint, Michigan to the late Raymond & Gertrude Selzer. She graduated in 1946 from Flint Northern High School. She married the love of her life, Donte "Don", on November 12, 1949, and together they were blessed with their four children. Gwen was an avid reading till the day she passed, and she was also talented at knitting. Gwen did much traveling through her life; she had many trips to casino with friends, road trip with the girls and in the earlier years she and Don camped and traveling the country. She was a proud member of the VFW Post 3720. She was a remarkable woman who spoke her mind and had a great sense of humor. She will be missed dearly by her family.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Paul Gonzales) Martin and Rocky (Christina) Bessolo, grandchildren, Dana (Scott Rosencrantz) Massimino, Courtney (Greg)Hummel, Kim (Brandon Kaiser) Martin, Justin (Courtney) Bessolo, Mallory Bessolo, Jennifer (Brandt) Foust, Eric (Brenda) Bessolo and Daniel (Emily) Bessolo. She is further survived by her many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond (Gertrude) Selzer; her husband, Don Bessolo, sons William and Robert Bessolo; grandson, Christopher Martin and son-in-law, Doyle Martin.
