KLATT, Gus Harvey - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, May 5, 2022. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on Gus obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Gus was born September 21, 1938 in Akron Township, the son of Gus Harvey and Katherine (Scheider) Klatt. He was a 1956 graduate of Akron High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Joyce Ann Couture July 20, 1961 in Bay City. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 1961 coming from Bay City/Durand/Akron. Gus retired from GTE after 30 years of service as a Field Supervisor. He was a avid golfer.
Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Joyce; 5 children, Mary Craig of Prescott, Patricia (Duane) Vietengruber of Sterling, Kenneth Klatt of Texas, Diane (Kenneth) Waski of California, and Sandra (James) Griffel of Florida; 6 grandchildren, Alisha Craig of South Carolina, Angela (Chris) Hopkin of Colorado, Robert (Alisa) Craig of Sterling, Phillip Griffel of Florida, Jason (Jeni) Veitengruber, and Ashely (Jerome) Cunningham; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, William Klatt of Caro and Ronald Klatt of Fairgrove; sisters, Elsie Ross of Bay City, Kate Falkenhagen of Auburn, and Emma Krause of Akron, Betty Klatt " Mary Earle" ; brother-in-law, Ernest Couture of Pinconning; and several nieces and nephews.
