Guadalupe S. VALENCIA

VALENCIA, Guadalupe S. - age 78, of Flint, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint with Fr. Timothy Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Tuesday and 2-5 & 6-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Valencia was born January 22, 1931 in Mercedes, TX, the daughter of Thomas and Dolores Roel Sauceda. She married Alejandro Valencia on June 12, 1964. Mrs. Valencia was an entrepreneur and owned restaurants in the area including Cookie's Taco House. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and crocheting. Surviving are: husband, Alejandro; 11 children, Juanita (Sylvester) Spooner-Arreguin of Flint, Refugia "Cookie" Whitten of Flint, Aurelia Villarreal of Texas, Felipe (Melanie) Castanon of Flint, Amelia Bays of Flint, Cosme Castanon, Jr., of Swartz Creek, Guadalupe "Nancy" Fisher of Flint, Thomas (Michelle) Castanon of Flint, Esteban (Paula) Castanon of Flint, Domingo Castanon of Flint, Sureena (Manuel) Gurrola of Flint; 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and family members in Flint and Texas. She was preceded in death by: Cosme Castanon; daughter-in-law, Gloria Castanon; five siblings, Consuelo, Felipe, Esteban, Juanita and Dolores; and six infant children.
