Greta Joy Melzer

MELZER, Greta Joy - age 81, of Fenton, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Fenton Assisted Living Center. Services will be held 1 PM Friday, May 11, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Chaplain Mara Figel officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service . Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Melzer was born August 27, 1925 in Highland Park, MI, the daughter of Olaf K. and Lillian (Willson) Johnson. She was a graduate of Milford High School and married Forest Leon Melzer on July 30, 1949 in Birmingham. Mrs. Melzer was employed at the Ford Motor Company for 10 years and Huron Valley Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a former member of Highland United Methodist Church. Surviving are: husband, Forest of Fenton; son, Alan F. Melzer of Hartland; daughter, Teresa A. and husband, John Stewart of Linden; six grandchildren, Jason, Gregory, David and Marnie Stewart, Rachel and Kyle Melzer; four brothers, Norman (Joanne) Johnson of WI, Oliver (Esther) Johnson of CO, Joseph (Linda) Johnson of FL, Malcolm "Mac" (Brenda) Johnson of GA; sister, Kristine Johnson of NC; many nieces and nephews.
