Grace Bennett

BENNETT, Grace Marie - Age 80, life long resident of Gaines, died Monday, February 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be held 3PM - 8PM Thursday and 11AM until time of service Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project. Grace was born in Gaines, Michigan, on June 9, 1935 the daughter of the late Guy H. and Bertha M. (Wilson) Slocum. She married Kenneth Bennett in Fort Knox, Kentucky on February 15, 1958. Grace was a 4 H leader, den mother and den leader for Cub Scouts. She taught leisure classes at Mary Crapo School and was a member of the Swartz Creek Historical Society. Grace was also a home health care provider and a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years. Surviving are: husband, Kenneth Bennett of Gaines; children, Michael Bennett of Evart, MI, David (Andrea) Bennett of Gaines, Annette (Fred) Casciano of Traverse City; grandchildren, Kristina (Dan) Denike of Gaines, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Bennett of Gaines; great granddaughter, Brooklynn; sister, Patty (Gilbert) Wykes of Gaines; brother in law and sister in law, Bob (Mary Lou) Gilbert of Lennon; sister in law, Bernice Bennett, and several nieces and nephews.
