Gordon Stanley Ostrom of Grand Blanc, Michigan peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on December 30, 2021 at the age of 86. Gordon was born January 14, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan.
“Gordon’s strong figurative heart was full of love for so many, but his literal heart became to weak to support his life.”
Gordon loved and cared for his family up to the end. He would make regular calls to check in on everyone, offer advice, and support, or just to listen.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hazel Ostrom; his sister Glorilynn LeBaron; his brothers Glen Ostrom, Thomas Ostrom, and Gary Ostrom; and his beloved grandson Bryce Frownfelter.
Gordon is survived by his one and only sweetheart and wife of 64 years Carol Ann Ostrom (Tindall); his siblings, sister Gwenda Guenette and husband Joe; brother Gerald Ostrom and wife Jane; his children, son Gregory Gordon Ostrom and wife Laurie; daughter Michelle DeAnn Frownfelter and husband Grant; daughter and caretaker Julann Michelle Ostrom; son Gordon Stanley Ostrom Jr. and wife Windy; son Randall Scott Ostrom and wife Angela; Nine grandchildren, Brianne Spiece and husband Robert; Emily Ann Ostrom; Caitlyn Terry and husband Ronald; Andrew Ostrom; Allison Maurer and husband Andrew; Taylor Ostrom; Bailey Ostrom; Ethan Merritt; Claudia Ostrom; Twelve great grandchildren, Blake Bishop; Abigail Pate; Evelin Spiece; Daniel Maurer; James Maurer; Rachel Maurer; Eryn Hayes; Houston Slate; Ronald Terry IV; Brooklyn Terry; Ivan Terry; Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and honorary grandchildren.
Gordon was a man of many talents and hobbies throughout his life. Some of his favorites included, woodworking/building, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, traveling, golfing, gardening, bird watching, dancing, spending time in the woods, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. Gordon especially loved to cook. His love for cooking and baking began when he served in the United States Army as a cook while stationed in Germany during the late 1950s. He will be remembered for his fantastic food, in particular breakfast food, which he would make for anyone, anytime of day, just the way they liked it.
Gordon was extremely active at the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an elder for decades. He dedicated his life to Jehovah God, and symbolized it by water baptism in July of 1960. For the next 61 years he faithfully served Jehovah and the Congregation. During that time Gordon formed lasting bonds with everyone that had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed sharing the truth he learned from the Bible with anyone that would listen. He will be remembered in the Congregation as an example of integrity, faith and most of all love.
Gordon wholeheartedly believed in the promises found in the Bible of a resurrection of the dead to life on a paradise earth.
Gordon’s next conscience breath will be in paradise. There he will be in perfect health with open arms ready to give out the big hugs he was known for.
Until then Gordon will be greatly missed.
