Gordon Burr

BURR, Gordon Phillip "Gordie" - Age 70 of Linden passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on July 28, 2015 after a hard fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 3:30PM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. The family will receive friends from 10AM until the time of service. In the spirit of Gordie's love of golf, it would be appropriate to wear your favorite golf shirt or casual attire. Contributions may be made to Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs. Gordon was born January 2, 1945 the son of Charles and Mildred (Rench) Burr in Detroit. He is a graduate of Berkley High School, class of 1963 and attended The Detroit Institute of Technology where he studied to become an engineer. He is a veteran having served in the US Army as a Sergeant. He married Sandra L. Pinkerton May 28, 1994 on Mackinaw Island. He loved golf and was a member and past president of Spring Meadows Country Club and was active in many golfing groups. Gordie also served as treasurer of the Association of Golf Presidents of Michigan. He was a member of the Holly Moose Lodge. His hobbies included; fishing, traveling especially in the Upper Peninsula and visiting light houses, but most importantly photography. Gordon enjoyed amateur radio and even was an operator with the call sign WD80VC. He retired from TRW Automotive with 32 years of service and has lived in Linden for over 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sandra of Linden, mother, Mildred of Lake Shannon, sister Linda (Steve) Baier of Elsie, son, Gordon (Colleen) Burr of Okemos, grandson, Donovan, Father-in-law and mother-in-law; George and Nancy Pinkerton of Hilton Head, SC, sister-in-laws; Kate (Brian) Robideau of Allen Park and Paula Pinkerton of Beaufort, SC, and special friends; Katie Paquette, Courtney Wozniak, Stephanie Bustraan all of Michigan.
