JARVELA, Glenn Arthur - Age 83, of Byron, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad, St, Linden Friday from 4-8 PM and at church Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Cheyboygan County Humane Society.
Glenn was born July 12, 1939 in Detroit, the son of Stayne Walter and Dorothy Lillian (Haitlen) Jarvela. He was a 1957 graduate of Berkley High School. He married Barbara Lynn Marzec October 5, 1963 in Oak Park. He had resided in Byron for the past 15 years coming from Farmington Hills. Glenn retired in 2001 from Frito Lay in Plymouth after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars, watching western's, and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving are: his wife of 59 years, Barbara; son, Christopher Jarvela of Redford; daughter, Heather Jarvela (Jim Johnson) of Lake Orion; granddaughter, Maya Delcotto of Livonia; sister, Charlene Lang of Arcadia; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Heidi Jarvela-Delcotto; brother, John "Jack" Jarvela; and sister, Karen Collins. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
