Venable, Glen James- Age 83, of Fenton, passed peacefully with his loving daughter by his side on September 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, September 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Interment will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday September 28. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Glen was born April 13, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Dewey Venable and Rila (Venable) Venable. He grew up in Flint, MI and graduated from Dye High School in 1957. He remained close with several of his classmates and attended the class luncheons regularly over the years.
Glen loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at holidays and birthday parties. You could always count on him to bring a special gift he picked out himself. He was always excited to hear about the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took every opportunity to share these with others.
Glen was a hardworking man who retired from General Motors with many years of service. Prior to working for General Motors, Glen proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his time of service, he worked on the last propeller driven combat fighter plane, the Aky Raider. He also was very excited for the opportunity to work on the F104 Starfighter jet. Glen was proud to be a United States Navy Veteran and loved his country. He shared this special connection with his son, who served in the United States Army. Glen was so proud of his great-grandson, Jackson, who recently enlisted in the United States Navy.
Glen was a social man who enjoyed the company of others. He appreciated good conversation and always had a story to tell. He loved a good meal and going out to eat, especially to the local coney island restaurants. He was also an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and looked forward to duck and deer hunting every season.
Surviving are: daughter Kim (Howard) Schrock; son Brent (Vicki) Venable; five grandchildren Kristen Archambeau, Shandra (Michael) James, Adrienne (Jared) Hubbartt, Amanda (Michael) Mogford, and Jennifer (James Quoetone) Schrock; thirteen great-grandchildren, Isabella Archambeau, Jackson Archambeau, Brayden Archambeau, Samantha Mogford, Jack Quoetone, Drew Mogford, Aysha Hubbartt, Leila James, Judah Hubbartt, Jimmy Quoetone, Liam James, Lila James, and Landon James; sister Sherri (Laren) Armstrong; brothers Douglas (Betty) Venable and Philip (Roma) Venable; special friend, Dawn Irish McBride. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry Venable; and sisters, Marge Sisco, and Karen Buchner.
