BUTLER-BOBAY-KIPPE, Gladys Elizabeth - Age 88, of Fenton, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 S. Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Steven Mattson celebrant. Burial immediately following at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, where she will join her veteran 2nd husband and veteran eldest son. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM and at church Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Adopt-a-Pet, St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Gary McInnis, Genesys Hospice or the charity of your choice. Gladys was one of seven children born to Albert Eugene and Veronica Josephine (Murphy) Hunt on February 16, 1921 in Medford, MA and resided both in Medford and Malden, MA and later in Flint and Fenton. She married Donald Francis Butler in MA, with whom she had two sons, Donald Francis, Jr. and Robert Eugene. She soon became a young widow. While working as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army in Boston, MA, during WWII, she met and fell in love with an Army Quartermaster Sgt. after the war she married and relocated to Flint, with her sons and new husband, Michael Bobay. He passed away in 1971. In 1981, she lost her eldest son, Donald. Widowed this time for 21 years, she was introduced to widower Randall Kippe. Love can indeed occur 3 times. She was delighted that this last union included a very large extended family which she loved dearly. Employed most of her life as a bookkeeper, accountant, and banking auditor, she was also qualified as an expert witness in MI courts of law, making handwriting comparisons. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, 3 husbands, her son, Donald, brother, Earl Hunt of MA, sisters, Evelyn Barchard and Lillian Long both also of MA, step daughter, Nancy Coulter of MI. Surviving are: son, Robert Eugene Butler (Susan) of Swartz Creek; sisters, Margaret Hefler (Walter) of CO, Pauline Crosby (Richard) of Reading, MA; brother, Edwin Hunt of Malden, MA; step son, Randall Kippe (Joan) of Columbiaville; step daughter, Janeen Hoskins (Ray) of Otisville; step son, John Kippe (Joan) of Flint; numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, and great grandchildren, special daughter-in-law, Barbara Schroeder of The Villages, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
