Gertrude L. Jensen

JENSEN, Gertrude L.  Age 96, of Durand, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Riverbend. Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Durand Area Senior Citizens Center of the Durand United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jensen was born April 9, 1907 in Elkton, MI, the daughter of Allan Roy and Sara (Miller) Stauffer. She married John William Jensen on March 9, 1929 and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1967. Mrs. Jensen was employed at A.C. Sparkplug and was a schoolteacher for many years. She was a member of the Durand United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jensen enjoyed reading and playing Bazooka in the Happy Days Band in Durand for many years. Surviving are: four children, Elaine P. and husband, George Ebner, Jr. of Clio, Herbert Jensen of Gaines, Dorothy and husband, Kenneth Munsel of Gladwin, Sally Jensen of NH; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Jennie Asch of OH; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Ivan, Kenneth and Allan; sister, Minerva Cairns; daughter-in-law, Emma Jensen.
