ANDERSON, Gertrude, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Comfort Care Home in Ortonville, MI on Friday, June 10, 2011. Gerda was born in Widminnen, East Prussia on February 12, 1914. She married E.O. (Andy) Anderson in 1962 in Huron and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1979. Gerda was an avid volunteer at the Hospital, American Legion Auxiliary, Lioness and the Senior Center. She spent many hours playing bridge at the local nursing homes. She belonged to the American Lutheran Church. In 2005, the Mayor of Huron acclaimed her "Volunteer of the Year". Her passion later in life was to play bridge, dance, and travel with her friend Don Bannister. Since moving with her daughter, Barbara Evans, she enjoyed many new opportunities in Grand Blanc, MI belonging to many organizations. Also surviving are her sister, Lottie Grams of Hannover; nephew, Kurt and Petra Kullick of Frankfort, Germany. Surviving grandchildren, Robert and Susan Evans of Northville, MI, Jim and Tammy Evans of Grand Blanc, MI, John and Alicia Evans of Traverse City, MI; Loving great-grandchildren, Katy, Loren, Blake, Courtney, Elizabeth, Brennen and Aleksander. Special Thanks to Michelle, Lisa and all of her devoted caregivers. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 with Reverent Ronald Bruegger officiating at Riverside Cemetery. Following will be a luncheon at the Grace Episcopal Church, 1617 McClellan Dr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huron Senior Center.
