Gerard Vincent KOWALCYK

KOWALCYK, Gerard "Jerry" Vincent - age 59 passed away Friday, May 24, 2013. Funeral mass will be celebrated 12 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. Visitation will be held 12-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held 11 AM until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Son of Benjamin and Mary-Ellen (Goyette) Kowalcyk was born in Flint, Michigan December 30, 1953 lived life to the fullest, and made countless friends along the way. He attended Holy Redeemer and Powers Catholic High School, graduating in 1972. Jerry was a loving father to Kristie (Kowalcyk) and Fidel Carino, Nicole (Kowalcyk) and Timothy Jones, Emily (Kowalcyk) and Michael Chuff, and Benjamin Vincent Kowalcyk. He adored his time with his grandchildren, Addisen, Madeline, Kendall, and Fidel Carino; Aidan and Olivia Jones; and Dominic Chuff. He is also survived by Leanne (Ceresia) Wojtowicz who through marriage/divorce remained friends. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Mary-Ellen Kowalcyk. Jerry worked in many facets of hospitality management, with his most enjoyable and gratifying experience co-managing the Wolverine Dilworth Inn in Boyne City, Michigan with his great friends, Grant Short and John "Bobo" Cooper. He spent the past five years working during the warmer months surrounded by his favorite past-time, golf, at the Flint Elks Club. Jerry was a real "people person" who brought out the best in everyone, making any event memorable, enjoyable - and usually quite comical! He will be remembered for his witty comments, positive outlook, and exemplary culinary skills. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Benjamin Kowalcyk's educational fund.
