Gerald "Judd" Powell

POWELL, Gerald "Judd" - age 96, of Fenton, passed away with his family at his side on September 20, 2019 at Wellbridge of Fenton. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel. 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. Interment will follow at Tyrone Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Great Lakes Michigan Chapter, Ascension Reverence Hospice or the charity of your choice. Judd was born in Linden, MI on December 26, 1922 to Clifford and Myrtle Powell. Judd was a graduate of Linden High School and then served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII in both Europe and the Pacific. He was married for 56 years to Mary Lou (Skarritt) who preceded him in death in 2003. Judd retired from the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford. He had a strong work ethic and cherished the camaraderie of his friendships made while working that carried on years later with Judd joining peers for breakfast at Liars Club. Judd was known as the best emcee at GM retirement parties. Judd also enjoyed traveling with his RV and then wintering in Florida. He enjoyed feeding the birds and watching wildlife in his yard, gardening, tinkering and watching old westerns and WWII movies on TV. Judd was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. He is survived by: sons, Steven (Sharon) of Pinckney, Clark (Rene) of Holly; and daughters, Becky (Mike) Klinkhammer of Rogers City and Beverly Hills, FL and Annie (Tom) Lockwood of Mackinac Island. Also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, two brothers, special friend Rita Francisco and his beloved dog, Abby.
