Geraldine “Gerrie” Marilyn Bell passed peacefully at home with her family on January 20, 2022. She lived most of her life in Fenton where she graduated from high school and then attended two years at Albion college, before marrying her husband Donald K Bell, who predeceased her by 24 years. Shortly after they married, they designed and built their home on 1001 Parallel St, where they raised three children, Donald Keith Bell Jr, Marleta N Bell, and Marilyn A (Bell) Burgess. They both lived out their remaining years in this home.
In addition to motherhood and homemaking, Gerrie devoted a great deal of time to her faith and, for recreation, she enjoyed many years in a ballroom dance club with her husband. They redesigned the downstairs of their home with a dance floor to accommodate elaborately themed dance parties and gatherings with local and church friends. Another special family tradition was to join with Don's brother, Murray's family for every single holiday, as well as vacation trips together.
A lady of true grace, one of Gerrie’s greatest joys of late was the visits from her helpers and friends. She adopted all her friends’ pets as part of her family after she lost her dear kitties Annie and Hallie, who had brought her daily joy and laughter.
Her family would like to thank all who kept her company and everyone who was a part of her Centennial Celebration, which she enjoyed endlessly, and considered her true celebration of life. When she surprised herself by reaching 101 her granddaughter Cassandra Elizabeth(Burgess) McHenry (Scott) and grandson, Lee Donald Burgess (Bethany) with great grandchildren Landon and Quinn Burgess came to her from Juneau, Alaska and Boise, Idaho to give her another very special celebration. She always felt blessed to live long enough to see her grandchildren grow up and never expected to have the blessing of knowing great grandchildren as well.
Gerrie was a woman of great strength and faith. She attributed her long life to the great care she received from her family and to finding her way to Christian Science, comforting her with a deeper understanding of her relationship with God, which she cherished for her last 70 years.
