TOMCZAK, Gerald R. - age 86, of Fenton, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral mass will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. David W. Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Saturday and 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a scripture service will be held at 5 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Carriage Town Ministries. Mr. Tomczak was born September 3, 1921 in Bay City, the son of Ernest T. and Mary (Fose) Tomczak. He married Barbara Armfield on October 25, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2006. Gerald was a veteran of the World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. as a Sergeant. He was the co-founder of Pro-Tech Industries with his son, Gerald and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Gerald's true passion was his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to: four children, Gerald T. Tomczak of Fenton, John R. Tomczak and wife, Lorna of Fenton, Joseph B. Tomczak and wife, Linda of Linden, Judith Brown and husband, David of Fenton; son-in-law, Leonard Accardo and wife Bev and their family; eight grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Tony, Gina, Nicholas, Krystal, Lily and Megan; two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Christopher and a third, Andy to be born in September; brother, Ernest "Bud" Tomczak; special family friend, John "Jack" Sands. He was also preceded in death by: daughter, Jean Accardo; granddaughter, Ashley; daughter-in-law, Mary; two sisters, Genevieve Fox and Shirley Edwards.
