Gerald L. KARSTENS

September 6, 1944 — April 10, 2012

KARSTENS, Gerald L. -- Age 67, of Swartz Creek, died April 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday, April 14 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Len Lason officiating. Interment at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 12-9 PM Thursday and Friday, and 9 AM until the time of service at 10 AM Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Karstens retired from GMSPO in 1998. After retirement he had enjoyed working part time at Gander Mountain. He loved antique cars, boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and their cabin in Gladwin. He loved spending time with his three grandchildren and was always in attendance at their sporting events. His desire to be with his grandchildren kept him going the last few years through his illness. Surviving are: wife Lillian "Lil"; two children, Kathy and husband Stan Adams of Gaines, Dan Karstens of Gaines and friend Melissa Harlow; three grandchildren, Danielle Adams, Tiffany Adams, and Andrew Karstens; sister Donna Bassage of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Arthur "Don" Karstens. The family extends a special thanks to their family and friends for all their help; Dr's Singh and Arora and the Cancer Center staff; and Dr. Tadros and staff.
