Gerald Kennedy MC CONNELL

McCONNELL, Gerald - 70, of Linden, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Mr. McConnell was born March 8, 1939 in Flint, the son of William and Julia Helen (Thrower) McConnell. He married Beverly Looney June 8, 1963 in Flint. He had resided in the Linden area since 1967 coming from Flint. Mr. McConnell retired in 1993 from GM Willow Run, Ypsilanti after 33 1/2 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Surviving are: wife, Beverly; daughter, Teri Peterson and Dale Rife of Fenton; 3 grandchildren, Chelsea, Justin and Thomas Peterson; brother, Daniel and wife Monica McConnell of Northport, FL; sister, Carol and husband Donald Robinson of Mayville; father-in-law, Raymond Ellis of Swartz Creek; 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley Welsh of Flint, Carolyn Garrison of Davison and Sonya and husband Dave Bradley of Fenton; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companions, Ziggy and Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Julia McConnell and sister, Kathleen Struthers; In-laws, Claude and Louise Looney and Olive Ellis; brother-in-law, Robert Garrison.
