Gerald Eugene Burge, age 91, of Flushing, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. A funeral service will take place at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Jim Nelson will officiate with burial following at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at 12:30 PM until the time of service Wednesday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Jerry was born on November 13, 1932 in Flint the son of the late Donald and Lucille (Dipzinski) Burge. He graduated from Fenton High School. Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was united in marriage to Esther Elsesser on July 21, 1953. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 27, 2010. Jerry worked for 35 years with GM Buick retiring in 1978 as a supervisor. After his retirement, Jerry would enjoy traveling and going to the casino with his wife. He enjoyed animals and cherished his dog, Punkey. In his recent years Jerry would be found playing Monopoly and putting together puzzles.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Sharon Amy, LuAnn Moore and Jeri Rae (Michael) Kutzy; 7 grandchildren, Rebecca (Tim) Clark, Sara (Kevin) Holleboom, Lindsay Moore (Fady), Kristin Bradley (Andy), Kyle Bradley, Jorie (Ken) Chase and Megan (Marty) Rodriguez; 7 great-grandchildren; and very special friend, Marion Handy.
