Rizk, George Diab- of Flushing, age 81, passed away peacefully in his home on February 19, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born in Derdghaya, Lebanon on March 26, 1939 to the late Diab and Karime Rizk and established his roots in Michigan in the late 1960’s. He married the love of his life, Virginia Zerka, on August 23rd, 1968. In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, George was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. He retired as a stockbroker in the mid-1990’s after many years of service. He was the backbone of his large family and enjoyed having everyone together as it brought him the most happiness. He loved spending his free time playing various card games and having a good time. George was a snowbird, traveling from Michigan in the cold winter months to enjoy 18 holes with his wife and friends in the Florida sun. Michigan summers were spent in his vegetable garden, as George had quite the green thumb. George had a warm heart, caring soul, and was deeply loved by all who knew him. George is preceded in death by his parents, Diab and Karime Rizk; sister, Laurance Abou Diwan and brother, Hanna (John) Rizk. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; brother, Barhoum Rizk; sisters Georgette (Joseph) Damouni, Louisa (Elias) Abou Diwan, Saidi (Eid) Badr, and Fadia (John) Badr; brother-in-law Joseph Abou Diwan and sister-in-law Sharon Rizk. George leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as an abundance of great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, February 22nd at Our Lady of Lebanon, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint, Father Pierre Bassil officiating. Mr. Rizk will be at the church on Monday prior to the service from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM for viewing. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
