PAUL, George Bernard, Jr. - Age 81, of Swartz Creek, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Sunday from 1-8 PM, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM and at church Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or to Heart to Heart Hospice.
George was born September 6, 1941 in Flint, the son of George Bernard, Sr. and Catherine Harriet (Brawner) Paul. He was a 1960 graduate of St. John Vianney Catholic High School, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. He married Patricia Ann Niec April 8, 1967 in Otisville. George retired in 1992 from the City of Flint as a fireman. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church where he also served as a usher. He was also a member of the Swartz Creek Knights of Columbus Council #6694. He was a Boy Scout Leader, coached high school hockey, and was a soccer referee. He was also a cook for the Flint Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are: his wife of 55 years, Patricia; sons, George Paul of Clio, Anthony (Amy) Paul of Swartz Creek, Andrew Paul of Clio, and Nick (Jennifer) Paul of Grand Marais; grandchildren, Megan (Richard) DeVoe, Madaleine Paul, Anthony "A.J." (Emily) Paul, Allison Paul, William Paul, and Grace Paul; great grandchildren, Richie DeVoe and Ryder Paul; brother, William (Linda) Paul of Grawn; sister, Mary (Jim) Shannon of Phoenix, Az; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Katie Ann Paul; sister, Catherine (Mickey) Ayre, and brother, Johnny Paul.
