OPRE, George - age 86 of Swartz Creek died at McLaren Regional Medical Center on Saturday March 7, one day before his 87th birthday. Services will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2009 at 11:00am at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be on Monday March 9 from 4pm to 8pm. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park on Dort Hwy in Flint, with a military Honors provided by VFW Chevrolet Post 3087. Those desiring may make contributions to VFW Chevrolet Post 3087 or a charity of ones choice. George served in the US Army in WWII from 1942-1946. He seerved an additional 5 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve and 1 Year in the U.S. Army Reserves. George worked as a millright at General Motores Chevrolet and SPO for 34 years. He belonged to UAW local 659. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3087 and a member of American Legion, Oakley Trainer. He was well known as a Bingo worker for many organizations throughout Genesee County. George is survived by his loving wife, Helen Opre and brother Ernest Opre.
