MALENICH, George Robert- Age 85,  passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at his residence surrounded by family.The  Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 16 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 Elms Rd.,  Flushing. The Very Rev. James J. Batcha officiating assisted by Father William F Wegher. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery,  Flint. Visitation will be 1-3 PM and  4-8 PM Wednesday where a 7PM Parastas Service will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek, and 10 AM Thursday at the church until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Michael Byzantine Church, McLaren Hospice or The Veteran's Association Department Of Michigan. George was born in Flint, May 28, 1936, son of the late George and Josephine (Patyk) Malenich. He graduated from Flint Northern High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S Army. George was united in marriage with Elizabeth Ruhala on November 11, 1961, at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. He worked as a Die Setter for General Motors for 44 years before retiring. George always enjoyed golfing with  his golf league for 28 years.  He loved to go Christmas shopping with his 3 daughters and then treat them to lunch. He always enjoyed vacations and anniversary trips and Fish Camp with friends and family. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with those he loved. George was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Malenich; children,  Maribeth Goodheart, Lynn (Douglas) Stanley,  David Malenich, Michelle (Dwight) Bohanon, all of Swartz Creek: 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 1 sister;  George was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert J. Malenich, and his son in law Gary J. Goodheart. The family is grateful to the caring McLaren Hospice team especially nurses Robin and Shelly. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
